Malaga boosts real estate growth

It is a statistical fact that in Malaga more new-build homes are already being sold than in the whole city of Barcelona, the second capital of Spain. The optimism that can be felt not only in the city but throughout the province, throughout the Costa del Sol, is palpable. Only today Madrid is arousing more interest among buyers.

In general, and according to the latest Colliers residential report, between January and June, 16,766 homes were sold, a figure that represents strong growth compared to the same period last year (64.6%), but also compared to the previous six-month period (13%). Second-hand transactions soared by 73% and new-build transactions by 39%. All these figures and percentages demonstrate the strength of the residential market in Malaga. 

Beyond structural and very positive elements such as the climate, the focus is also on the fact that Malaga is seen as a technological city and, consequently, as a destination for national and international companies as well as for qualified workers and senior managers. Teleworking and its standardisation are doing the rest so that the interest as a first residence destination (not exclusively tourist) is now so strong.

In recent times, large digital multinationals such as Google, TDK or Vodafone have set foot in the province, as well as startup launchers, accelerators and incubators that have chosen the city as their centre of operations. The moment could not be sweeter.
